During this period of social distancing we have had virtual quizzes and even dating, but now South Shields Marine School (part of South Tyneside college) is looking to move it onto the next level with a virtual Open Day.

Recruitment for the August / September intake of Deck, Engine and ETO Cadets is in full swing, and this event taking place between 2-6pm on Wednesday 24th June, will give you a chance to see exactly what a college and a career at sea looks like.

There will be series of short presentations and videos from college staff – demonstrating classrooms and technology such as simulators – as well as hearing and speaking to existing cadets who can give you an honest view, shipping sponsors, and training companies such as CMT who you can apply to.

Jo Gillan – Training & Events Analyst, and Blair Lindsay – Training Officer (pictured above) will be in attendance and taking questions from you alongside two current South Tyneside CMT Cadets.

There will also be Live Chat running concurrently with the event allowing you to ask questions directly.

To attend, all you have to do is visit http://www.stc.ac.uk/page/virtual-maritime-careers-day to register your interest, and full details will be sent to you.

We look forward to ‘seeing’ you there!
