The Scottish Maritime Academy is the nautical centre of excellence of North East Scotland College. It is a purpose-built training centre and occupies a unique location overlooking the Port of Peterhead where classroom based exercises will often mirror real time vessel within the harbour.

The Academy offers maritime training across both the Merchant Navy and Fishing sectors so expect to meet a mix of those who are just starting out on a maritime career as well as experienced seafarers who are looking to progress. Class sizes are small enabling lecturers to offer hands on support and advice throughout your cadetship plus you will pick up lots of helpful tips and insights from the wider team and fellow students.

You’ll have access to high specification teaching resources and specialist maritime equipment. There is a coffee shop housed within the training centre which serves a range of hot and cold snacks / lunches.

Peterhead is one of the UK’s most versatile ports which boasts a strong maritime community. It serves a broad range of industries including oil and gas, renewables, fishing and leisure. With good road links Aberdeen is not far away.
