Warsash Maritime School – In-Person Open Day

Location: The Spark, East Park Terrace, Southampton, SO14 0YN

Date: Saturday 2nd March - 09:30 until 14:00

Interested in a career at sea? Our careers in maritime open days give you an insight into what a career in the maritime industry has to offer, and the training programmes to qualify as a ship’s deck, engineer or electro-technical officer in the Merchant Navy and on superyachts.

You’ll feel right at home at our friendly and welcoming campus where you can discover, and maybe even try out, our amazing maritime facilities, including our bridge simulators. You’ll also be able to talk to and ask questions of course leaders and, just as importantly, current cadets about studying at Solent, as well as our accommodation, admissions and Student Hub teams.

We also know that some people can’t attend an on-campus open day, or would feel more comfortable learning about Solent at home, which is why we’re offering some events virtually, as well as our on-demand open day – Cadetship Open Days at Solent University

Registration

Head to The Spark building at our East Park Terrace campus to sign in. From there, you’ll be able to take tours of our fantastic facilities and attend a variety of talks.

What to expect

Our careers in maritime open days give you an insight into what a career in the maritime industry has to offer, and the training programmes to qualify as a ship’s navigation (deck), engineer or electro-technical officer in the Merchant Navy and on superyachts.

Many of the major British shipping companies and representatives of Clyde Marine Training will be available to give information about the career opportunities they offer. Our teaching staff are also on hand to talk about the academic side of training, and current cadets will be able to tell you what training to be a ship’s officer is like.

You’ll also be able to take a tour of our main East Park Terrace campus and our St Mary’s campus, which is where our cadets are taught. You can also see where you could be living with a tour of our student accommodation.

There are general presentations about life as a deck or engineer officer, and you can also speak to our teams about accommodation options, applying and enrolling, student support, and much more!

Take some time out

If you’re looking for a bite to eat or a drink, visit the East Park Deli where you’ll find hot and cold drinks, as well as snacks and a selection of hot and cold food.
