Are you interested in how electrical and electronic systems work?
Hear from South Shields Head of School for Marine Degrees and Certification, Chris Gray, as he talks about the maritime sector and the ‘ETO’ programmes they deliver. He will focus on the different career paths and progression routes that are available including sponsorship (Foundation Degree) through to top-up degree qualifications including BENG and senior marine certification.
Chris began his cadet journey 16 years ago at the marine school, before becoming qualified then working on a variety of ships worldwide including container ships, ro-ro ferries and offshore support vessels. He then completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and was offered a lecturing job at the college, initially teaching ship stability and engineering projects. Chris was then promoted to Curriculum Leader, followed by Head of School.
During this live session, Chris will give you an overview of the unique careers available in the Merchant Navy with a focus on the ETO route and the skills that employers are looking for. Whether you’re looking to start your maritime journey through a sponsored cadetship, upskill in your current profession or would like to know more about our senior remote courses, Chris will be on hand to guide you through your options.
