STCW Fire Fighting & Fire Prevention

Duration: 3 Day course

Location: Glasgow

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements for this course

This course is designed to give those seeking/requiring Certificates of Competence, able seafarers, UK watch ratings and other with specified survival duties onboard the essential education and training in fire prevention and fire fighting meeting the knowledge, understanding and proficiency set out in the STCW code.

This course will involve practical and theory training and will include:

  • Fire theory
  • Causes of ignition
  • On board safety
  • The conditions required for fire
  • Methods to extinguish fire
  • The spread of fire
  • Classes of fire

The practical session will include:

  • Carrying out the initial actions on discovering a fire
  • Identifying the environment
  • Correctly using portable and mobile fire extinguishers
  • The use of hoses, nozzles and hose equipment
  • Extinguishing different types of fire
  • Testing and using BA equipment

Upon successful completion all candidates will be issued with an STCW Fire Fighting & Fire Prevention Certificate.
