STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship

Entry Requirements: There are no formal entry requirements for this course

This 5 day intensive course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care onboard ship. The level of knowledge gained shall be sufficient to enable the designated seafarer to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illness likely to occur, involving both practical and theory training.

The course will cover:

  • Care of the casualty
  • Aspects of nursing
  • Diseases
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Dental care
  • Gynaecology, pregnancy and childbirth
  • Medical care of rescued persons
  • Death at sea
  • Disease prevention
  • Record keeping

Upon successful completion of the course all candidates will be issued with a Medical Care on Board Certificate.

PLEASE NOTE we also offer a 3-day STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship Refresher course for candidates who have already completed a Medical Care onboard course and are looking to update their skills and knowledge.
