Entry Requirements for Cadetships
Irrespective of which career path you choose, you will need to pass the minimum entry qualifications for the entry categories listed below.

Academic Entry Requirements [ Top]
For entry into the HNC/D course you will require a minimum of 5 GCSE or Standard Grade passes at Grade C/3 or above including English, Mathematics and a Science based subject..
In addition to achieving the academic requirements for the HNC/D courses, applicants for the Foundation Degree and Scottish Professional Diploma routes require 120 UCAS points from 2 or more A Levels or Highers; these should include either Physics or Mathematics. Applicants for Degree courses should check the entry requirements with the individual University.
Equivalent qualifications may also be deemed to be suitable. Please contact us if you feel that this is the case.
Medical Entry Requirements [ Top]
For entry into training towards your chosen career path, you will need to be able to pass the MCA Seafarer Medical exam.
Seafarer Medicals are carried out by approved doctors and the doctor should be satisfied that no disease or defect is present which could be aggravated by working at sea or present a risk to the seafarer.
You will also be required to meet the Eyesight Requirements of the MCA Medical Exam.
Applicants with colour deficiency will NOT be accepted.

Other Entry Requirements [ Top]
All Trainees will be required to be a National of a member state of the European Union and must be ordinarily resident in the UK.
