Colin McMurray

Colin’s career began with BP Shipping Ltd where he started as a Trainee before rising through the ranks to become 2nd Officer. After working as Chief Officer with Sea Containers Scotland Ltd for around 5 years Colin joined Clyde Marine Training in 2004 as Manager. Currently Director of the company as well as being present on a number of Maritime Committees, he says that his most recent highlight within the company has been developing the staff and company resulting in winning the Glasgow Business Award for Best Performing Business.

Kathy Malaney

Kathy is the newest member of our team and has worked in a variety of business sectors. She has a wealth of experience within the Youth Training sector where she was employed for over 10 years, developing from skills instructor level to management with responsibility for over 50 training centres and personnel throughout Scotland. With sound financial, sales and management experience she is perfect for the role of General Manager and is keen to develop staff within Clyde Marine Training to fulfil their own potential and enhance their own job satisfaction.

Rod MacKenzie

After passing his Highers Rod made the excellent choice of training to become a Deck Officer through CMT! Ten years later he returned to us as a Training Officer after working as a Personnel Officer within Northern Marine Management. With 21 years of experience within the Maritime Industry, Rod describes his role as Manager as being both varied and fulfilling.

Katy Womersley

Katy began her career as a Trainee with SSTG, before sailing as 2nd Officer with Gardline Surveys. After living in Spain she returned to the UK to take up a management role within the Hospitality Industry, before joining CMT in 2004. Katy completed her HNC in Training and Development in order to assist with her role within the company, currently Assistant Manager (Training). Katy enjoys using her own experiences to help Trainees through to completion.

Matt Horton

Matt brings a wealth of experience to the team having spent 35 years within the Maritime Industry. Having worked his way through a variety of roles from AB upwards, Matt joined CMT in 2005 and has again worked his way up to become Assistant Manager (Development). Matt recalls one of his most memorable experiences within the company as climbing up a pilot ladder in Tuzla, anchorage in order to deliver an onboard CMHB training course!

Christine Cultrera

Christine has worked for the company for 21 years, having seen the company grow from 6 members of staff to the current 22 employees. Before joining us Christine worked in the Financial Sector, completing various business qualifications, more recently completing studies in management. Currently Assistant Manager (Administration), Christine has responsibility for all areas of administration and the relevant staff.

Lesley Ellis

Having joined CMT in 2007, Lesley is currently Assistant Manager (Training) - Maternity Cover and is responsible for the Trainees at Fleetwood Nautical Campus and the National Maritime College of Ireland. She also deals with schools as well as areas of marketing and recruitment. Lesley completed her MA (Hons) before moving into Retail Management and achieved a Diploma in the Business of Shipping, with a Highly Commended Pass.

Ashleigh Sommerville

Currently responsible for all Deck Officer Trainees at City of Glasgow College, Ashleigh joined CMT 3 years ago in a training and development role. Having previously completed qualifications in Retail Management including a HND, Ashleigh recently achieved a Diploma in the Business of Shipping with a Highly Commended Pass. Ashleigh also delivers Elementary First Aid courses and is the appointed Female Trainee Liaison Officer.

Wayne Shettle

Unlike the majority of CMT staff who are based in Scotland, Wayne is based in our Southampton Office and has responsibility for all Trainees at Warsash Maritime Academy. Wayne came to the company 3 years ago after completing 20 years at sea with Cunard, P&O Ferries and Red Funnel respectively. Wayne also attends school and career events in the south of England in order to promote careers in the Merchant Navy.

Christopher Blair

Christopher is an ex-CMT Trainee, having achieved a HND in Marine Engineering and his OOW Certificate of Competency through GCNS. With 6 years experience in the Maritime Industry, Christopher worked on a variety of vessels before coming to CMT in 2008. Christopher is the company Training Record Book Supervisor and is also responsible for all Trainees at Shetland School of Nautical Studies.

Natalie Kriek

Natalie is based in our Southampton office and previously worked for Clyde Marine Recruitment. Prior to working for The Clyde Group Natalie was at sea as Crew Manager for the UK's largest cruise company. She is currently responsible for all Trainees at South Tyneside College and is looking forward to the challenges that the role will bring!

Captain Robin White

Robin spent 40 years at sea before retiring, returning to the world of work in his current role as Marine Consultant. Robin assists with careers events and gives talks to school groups on Merchant Navy careers, as well as giving advice to Trainees on Portfolios and Training Record Books. 

Kirsty Fraser

Kirsty joined the company in September 2010 having previously been an Assistant Manager within a major coffee company. Kirsty is a Support Training Officer and has responsibility for the Engineering Trainees at City of Glasgow College.

Leanne Kyle

Leanne started with us in 2008 after working as a healthcare assistant within our healthcare division. She now deals with all aspects of training and administration support and has gained a vast amount of knowledge about the industry over the past year. 

Cheryl Woods

Cheryl has worked within CMT in a variety of administrative roles for the last 9 years and is currently appointed in the role of Senior Clerical Officer. Her current role involves all aspects of Trainee payroll and she counts her rise through positions within the company as one of her important achievements to date.

Dawn Weir

Dawn works in the administration team as Senior Clerical Officer and has been with CMT for 15 years. Prior to this, Dawn completed a NC in Administration and went on to work within Harrisons (Clyde) for 8 years before joining the company.

Jean Wright

Jean has worked within CMT for around 2 years and deals with all Trainees and their requirements prior to starting their training course. Before coming to the company Jean worked in administration and prior to this she had her own bar in Spain.

Laura Gardiner

Laura has worked within CMT for around 2 years, when she joined the company after completing her Highers at school. Laura deals with all pre-college administration, ensuring all documentation is correct for all Trainees prior to commencing training. 

Danielle Redmond

Danielle is a Clerical Officer within CMT and deals with areas such as Trainee travel, Trainee seatime requirements and medical administration. Having worked for the company since May 2008, Danielle previously gained a HND in Public Relations and Advertising and also worked within a Marketing company on various campaigns. 

Valerie Clark

Valerie has worked for The Clyde Group for around 3 years. She came to Clyde Marine Training after having worked in the HR department of the group and currently deals with arrangements for Trainees joining and leaving vessels. Prior to joining The Clyde Group Valerie was at University and enjoys the fact that no two days are the same at CMT!

Hannah Johnston

Hannah joined Clyde Marine Training in June 2010 as an Administrative Assistant though the Commonwealth Apprenticeship Scheme. Hannah deals with a wide variety of tasks within the office and enjoys working with a wide range of people.

Jerry Ferguson

Jerry has worked within the Clyde Group for the past 11 years, currently working on areas of SMarT, Software Projects and IT Software Support. Prior to coming to CMT Jerry was at sea for around 13 years with Shell Tankers and P&O Ferries, before completing his BSc in Maritime Business and Maritime Law, at the University of Plymouth.

Andrew Taggart

Andrew has a varied role within CMT, dealing with IT Software Support, Budgets, Uniforms and administrative support. Andrew was previously a CMT Trainee with Zodiac Maritime Agencies Ltd before coming to work within the company and has 4 years within the Maritime Sector.
