Clyde Marine Training attend Strategy Day
Clyde Marine Training’s management attended a strategy day last week at House for an Art Lover in Glasgow, which was hosted by our parent company The Clyde Group. This was a fantastic day which all the companies within The Clyde Group came together and reviewed their work over the past year and planned strategic objectives for how to move forward in the coming year. This was a very positive day which highlighted the hard work and commitment from Clyde Marine Training’s staff members and its contribution to our company’s success. We look forward to continuing this success in the future!

Welcome to the company Chris and William
Clyde Marine Training is proud to welcome two new Support Training Officers to our ever expanding team. Christopher Reynolds and William Clelland have both started working with the company within the last month and are currently spending their time working with both the training and administration teams to gain knowledge and insight into the Merchant Navy. Both Chris and William are new to the maritime industry and will be responsible for Clyde Marine Training trainees at different maritime colleges but we just know they will get the hang of it in no time!
Clyde Marine Training’s Conference was a big success!
The conference day which took place this week on Tuesday 6th March 2012 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Glasgow was a fantastic event for Clyde Marine Training. Representatives from shipping companies and maritime colleges were in attendance whilst Clyde Marine Training staff held presentations talking all about Clyde Marine Training and detailing what we have been up to in the past year and a half whilst training cadets for careers within the Merchant Navy. Conference Day approaching
Clyde Marine Training is looking forward to hosting our conference day on Tuesday 6th March 2012 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Glasgow. In attendance at this event will be representatives from colleges which Clyde Marine Training use for training cadets and representatives from shipping companies, who will come along to see Clyde Marine Training deliver presentations detailing our number of services. This includes the elements such as recruitment of cadets, developing portfolios and any other topical issue relating to maritime news. Read more »
Over £310 raised for RNLI
The RNLI SOS Day was held last month on Friday 27th January and Clyde Marine Training, along with the rest of The Clyde Group, took part by hosting in-house activities to raise money for the RNLI. The day’s events included:
Swap Our Stuff – giving staff the chance to clear out unwanted Christmas gifts and pick up a bargain or two!
Select our Station – staff could pay a quid to pick a station from the RNLI map and enter into our raffle to win a cash prize.
Slice Of Sponge –yummy baking treats were on offer!

Clyde Marine Training visit Warsash Maritime Academy
Clyde Marine Training attended the Warsash Maritime Academy Annual Careers Open Day which aimed to provide potential officer cadets with further information as to what is involved in a career at sea. The event offered insight into the shipping industry and explained what qualifications and training programmes are needed for cadets to progress in this industry. Clyde Marine Training were one of the many companies present at this event and offered advice and information to all who required it. Read more »
Short courses carried out onboard Stena this week!
Clyde Marine Training carried out the last in the current series of maritime short courses for Stena Line this week. The Crisis Management and Human Behaviour course was carried out on Monday 23 January 2012 onboard Stena Lagan and Stena Mersey. This course is designed for Officers and any other person having responsibility for the safety of passengers in an emergency situation. The course covers emergency plans and procedures, the identification of stress and communication and control methods for situations involving passengers and crew members. Read more »
Clyde Marine Training goes to Germany!
Clyde Marine Training’s Divisional Manager, Matt Horton, flew to Germany yesterday to carry out marine short courses on a cruise line in Papenburg Shipyard. Matt will be onboard the ship for approximately eight days carrying out training for ship crew and deck and engineering officers. The maritime short courses that will be carried out are Personal Survival and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) aswell as Crowd Management. This will be the first of two visits to this cruise line as Clyde Marine Training will be back to carry out more short courses onboard the ship in February.
